Art, to me, is very special. A passion for fine art began at an early age. I was 12 when I completed my first free-hand masterpiece using leftover paints I found in the house. When I let my mind wander during high school class, I would draw figures on my notepad.
Being able to relay my perceptions and visions to a sophisticated audience has been my dream.
Basically self-taught, I have worked in most mediums and gained a thorough knowledge of each. Intense study and long trips to exclusive galleries including many along the coast of Maine advanced my learning to the next level. Being among famous works, afforded me the decision to make painting in oils my final goal and influenced by the Old Masters’ bold contrast of Italian chiaroscuro.
I became attracted to the Rembrandts’ and Harnetts’ style, the classical realism that demands a specific skill, talent, and detailed technique.
Creating the illusion of depth and volume on the flat surface of my panel excites me. Purposefully placed, an array of meaningful objects against a dark background, where light and shadow contrasts create the ultimate dramatic view. I found my love, painting still lifes in oil, in a classical, traditional style, trompe l'oeil.
