  The Gilpin House, part of the Brandywine Battlefield Park in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, was the home of the Gideon Gilpin family during the Sept. 11, 1777 battle. Soldiers plundered the farm for days after the battle and Gilpin had to run a tavern out of his home.
